Lagos Launches Smart TranSportsation

In a bid to address  the worrisome traffic situation in Lagos, the State Government has launched the “Smart TranSportsation for Lagos” (STfL) campaign.

The STfL campaign which was executed through the Lagos Metropolitan Area TranSports Authority (LAMATA) also coincided with the official launch of the BRT Extension from Mile 12 to Ikorodu, with an additional 434 new BRT Buses to ease commuters’ tranSportsation in the area.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, in an address during the campaign launch, stated that the STfL campaign would encourage commuters to travel smartly within the State so as to ensure less traffic, stressing that Lagosians would be educated by LAMATA  in line with the three pillars of Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability on smarter ways to commute around Lagos.

Lagos State Commissioner for TranSports, Dr. Dayo Moboreola, during the campaign launch, also stated that the Strategic TranSports Master Plan for Lagos would help transform the state tranSports sector beyond its current challenges, adding, “The plan identifies possible tranSports infrastructure and services required to meet growing travel demand for Lagos State by 2032”.

The STfL initiative also encourages commuters to embrace technology and digitisation through the use of online conference and video calls as a way to avoid spending several hours in traffic.

The initiative further encourages drivers to drive safely and conduct regular auto maintenance while pedestrians are advised to make use of pedestrian bridges and sidewalks.
