Eden Hazard isn’t the only Chelsea player Zinedine Zidane has his eye on, with the returning Real Madrid boss also reportedly keen to bring N’Golo Kante to the Bernabeu.

Zidane was officially unveiled on Monday, returning to the club just 10 months after leaving the first time following the side’s disastrous performances this season, culminating in an embarrassing Champions League exit.

The French coach originally left because he felt the squad needed wholesale changes and a massive overhaul – something Florentino Perez was not prepared to fund at the time.

But the president’s position has changed after sacking two managers already this season and Zidane is thought to have an enormous £300million warchest to spend this summer.

Interest in Hazard has existed for years, but now The Evening Standard report that Zidane also wants to sign countryman Kante, who played such a crucial role in his nation’s World Cup win last summer.

Kante has been used in a more advanced, attack-minded position by Maurizio Sarri this season, but Zidane wants him to revert to his usual role and anchor Real’s midfield.

Chelsea, though, are extremely reluctant to let Kante leave and hold a far stronger bargaining position with the former Leicester City man than they do with Hazard.

Kante signed a new five-year contract in November and earns around £290,000-a-week, so Real would need to at the very least triple the £32m Chelsea paid for Kante in 2016.

Hazard, however, only has a contract until 2020 and has made little secret of his desire to one day play for Real – and particularly under Zidane – though the west Londoners will still expect to fetch upwards of £100m.
