Sex for grades: Church suspends UNILAG lecturer after BBC investigation

The Foursquare Gospel Church says it has ordered a pastor to step down from ministerial duties after a BBC Africa Eye investigation implicated him in a “sex for grades” scandal at University of Lagos.

Boniface Igbeneghu, a lecturer in French at the University of Lagos, was caught on video sexually harassing a 17-year-old undercover reporter.

“Let me just hug you. My baby. My baby. No wait. Don’t ask me what I want to do. I’m not going to harm you,” he said at one point.

Dr Igbeneghu was also a pastor at The Foursquare Gospel Church, which said in a statement that it does not condone “heinous and unscriptural” acts.
