Umtiti wants Chelsea move

Chelsea have been told Samuel Umtiti wants to join them if he is sold by Barcelona this summer, according to The Mirror.

The 26-year-old, who played a pivotal role in France’s 2018 World Cup win, has struggled with knee injuries over the past two seasons, playing more of a peripheral role with his compatriot Clement Lenglet featuring more often alongside Gerard Pique in Barcelona’s backline.

The Catalan club are reportedly close to letting him leave this summer, as concerns have emerged over their finances, with their wage bill reportedly making up an unsustainable 80% of their total revenue.

However, the Blues are prioritising a move for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

Frank Lampard is interested in a deal for Umtiti – and Chelsea have enquired – while Arseanl and Manchester United have also been offered the player.
