Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified Lyon forward Memphis Depay as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, should they depart from the Emirates.
The Gunners strikers are both facing uncertain futures at the club, with Aubameyang’s contract due to expire in 2021 and Lacazette’s just a year later.
The Gabon international is being chased by a number of top European clubs including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan after another impressive season, scoring 17 Premier League goals.
Meanwhile, Lacazette has struggled for goals and been regularly replaced in the side by 21-year-old Eddie Nketiah, prompting speculation that the Frenchman could also leave the club this summer.
And according to Le 10 Sport, should one, or both strikers go, Mikel Arteta is keen on ex-Manchester United striker Depay to come in as a replacement.
The 26-year-old struggled to make an impact during his two-year spell at Old Trafford, but has had a resurgence in form in Ligue 1.
Depay’s contract is due to expire next summer and the report states that he is looking elsewhere, with a return to the Premier League a potential option.
Arteta is believed to rate the technical ability and personality of the Netherlands international.
The Gunners and Aubameyang have been locked in contract talks for months, with no resolution yet to be found.
