The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared that final year secondary school students in the country won’t participate in the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Wednesday after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, also said there is no date for school resumption yet.
He said he would prefer Nigerian students lose an academic year to expose them to dangers.
The federal government has also suspended its earlier plan to reopen schools.
Schools across the country were closed in March to curb the spread of COVID-19. The federal government had earlier announced the reopening date of July 13 for graduating students in Primary Six, JSS 3 and SSS 3.
