After a long fight with kidney disease, the actor passed away.
Leo Mezie, a well-known Nigerian actor, died at the age of 46. He died on Saturday while recovering from a kidney transplant, according to reports.
Chioma Toplis, a colleague of the actor, revealed his death on Instagram on Monday. According to Toplis, the actor passed away at an Abuja hospital.
“Actor Leo Mezie is deceased,” Toplis wrote with various photos of Leo Mezie in the caption section. While recovering from a kidney transplant, he died in Abuja on Saturday. His body was taken to his hometown of Umuahia. RIP Leo.”
Leo Mezie began his career in the Nigerian film business in 1996, but it was in 2003, when he acted in the film Labista, that he rose to recognition.
Maureen, the actor’s sweetheart, was married to him in 2010. The actor revealed to his friends and fans that he had a kidney condition in 2016, and they rallied around him, so he underwent surgery in London.
Unfortunately, the illness reappeared in 2019, and the actor was sent to a Lagos hospital for treatment.
