On Saturday, a riot broke out in the Katangan area of Bauchi State’s Warji Local Government Area, with enraged teenagers burning houses and injuring a pastor over another case of supposed blasphemy.
The violence started when a message on social media claimed that a Christian girl in the area had engaged in blasphemy of Islam in response to the Sokoto event.
The incident’s details are still murky since Ahmed Wakili, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, was unable to take his calls or respond to text messages passed to him, according to the Daily Post.
A Christian student, Deborah was killed in Sokoto State by fellow students over alleged blasphemy some weeks ago, an incident which has sparked the call for justice.
