Chelsea set to make a £42 million offer for Matheus Nunes

According to sources in Portugal, Chelsea is prepared to make a bid of €50 million (£42.8 million) for Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes.

This summer, adding two new defenders has been the team of Thomas Tuchel’s priority over adding another player to the squad.

However, A Bola claims that Chelsea would make Sporting an offer of €50 million (£42.8 million) in order to sign Nunes this summer.

According to the report, Chelsea’s offer of €45 million (£38.6 million) plus €5 million (£4.2 million) in add-ons will be sufficient to persuade Sporting to sell.

Nunes is reportedly eager to join Tuchel’s team as well, beating out Wolves, who have already expressed interest but are unable to match Chelsea’s offer.

Ruben Neves was anticipated to leave the team this summer, and Wolves have identified Nunes as their top replacement.

In 33 league games last season, Nunes, a box-to-box midfielder who plays for Sporting, helped Sporting finish second to Porto with three goals and two assists.

The 23-year-old Portuguese national team player, who was born in Brazil, has eight caps.

Nunes stated last month that he would be pleased to remain at Sporting in his remarks.

Correio do Manha quoted Nunes as saying, “My goal is to fulfill the contract.”

It would be useless to transfer me because I am under contract with Sporting. Sporting makes me joyful. An excellent league is the Portuguese League.
