Residents of Ishara and Ogere in Ogun’s Ikenne and Remo-North Local Government Areas are in a state of panic as a result of the threat of an attack by alleged bandits.

According to information making the rounds, there is a message circulating that is allegedly written by bandits who plan to assault the communities of Ishara and Ogere.

A resident in one of the forwarded messages read, “I was in a prayer group yesterday when we were told that bandits wrote a letter of planned attack to Ogere and Ishara communities in Ogun state.”

It was reportedly confirmed by an Ishara Principal that the letter was addressed to the two communities.

When contacted, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s police public relations officer, confirmed the event.

Oyeyemi, on the other hand, called the letter prankish and claimed that the police were looking for the letter’s sponsor.

Oyeyemi said, “We are investigating the so-called letter with a view of getting who wrote it arrested because some people will just sit down and think of ways of causing unnecessary panic in the mind of the people.

“We are not leaving any stone unturned in arresting the people behind the dangerous letter.”

When asked if he sighted the letter, Oyeyemi said, “We saw a composed letter, we discovered that mischief maker wrote it. Aside from that, we are not in any way relaxing on operational activities across the state so with or without any letter, we ensure that we put a very strong security arrangement on ground to ward off any form of a situation from any angle. We are on ground.”
