The Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Jamiu Maito has resigned.
Maito’s letter of resignation was read by the Clerk of the House, Mr Bode Adeyelu, during the plenary session on Wednesday.
His resignation comes as the crisis in the Ondo State House of Assembly continues.
Yesterday, members of the Ondo State House of Assembly served impeachment notice to the deputy governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi.
The members of the Assembly are currently deliberating in the Assembly on the allegation of gross misconduct against Ajayi.
On the premises of the Assembly, scores of armed policemen and the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are present to maintain the law and order.
This means that the tenure of Agboola Ajayi as deputy governor of the state may soon come to an end.
However, nine lawmakers in Ondo state have disassociated themselves from the impeachment process of the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Agoola Ajayi.
