Chelsea are still locked in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Kai Havertz, despite the Germany international ‘pushing’ for a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues view Havertz as their priority transfer target and the 21-year-old has his heart set on a move to West London this summer.
He wants to play Champions League football next season and feels ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
Personal terms have already been agreed between Havertz and Chelsea, with the player ready to sign a contract until June 2025.
However, the two clubs are reportedly about €20m (£18m) apart in their valuations of the player, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Havertz and his agents are pushing for the move to go through but Bayer will not budge on their price.
And they will not allow the transfer to drag on until the transfer window closes in October.
They are willing to allow him to leave but they want the deal done swiftly and on their terms.
Negotiations are ongoing and Chelsea are putting together a package with add ons as part of the deal.
With Bayer not budging on their price and looking for a quick resolution, the next few days of negotiations could prove crucial to Havertz’s hopes of sealing a move.
