"To all the Blues, to my teammates" - Olivier Giroud says goodbye to Chelsea as he signs AC Milan deal

Olivier Giroud has bid Chelsea farewell as he is set to complete a move to AC Milan on a two-year deal.

The France international arrived at Milan’s La Madonnina clinic at approximately 7am on Friday morning to undergo a medical ahead of the transfer.

Giroud signed his contract with AC Milan after the medical and ahead of the clubs’ official announcement, the striker took to Twitter to thank his former club.

“To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments,” he wrote.

Man Utd’s foreign stars suspect English team-mates have got special treatment over new contracts

“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent.”

The fee for Giroud is understood to be around €1m (£855,000), with an extra €1m (£855,000) in bonuses subject to a number of appearances and qualification for the Champions League.

The 34-year-old signed a new one-year deal at Chelsea last summer and last month the club took up an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
